Well, there is some big news in the Akin house that we would like to share! Jace is going to be a big brother! Our addition is due on March 29th. This past week, we had a gender reveal party for our parents and grandparents.
The center of the cupcakes revealed the gender of our baby.
And the winner is...TEAM PINK! It's a GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are so thankful, and can't wait to meet our baby girl!

A Trip to Pops' & Mom Pat's & Dad's Birthday

So...we are to the middle of July now! Our family went to Booneville  for the day to visit my grandparents. They set up a sprinkler for Jace, and he talked Brooke into playing with him.

My parents' birthdays are July 18th and 19th. We celebrated my Mom's birthday at Brooke's house and Dad's at our house. We had chicken and steak kabobs, potatoes, and dessert.
Our dessert was ice cream sundaes in waffle bowls. Jace loved his first waffle bowl!

I am absolutely LOVING this weather! Jace and I are about to go and enjoy the fresh air! Have a good Tuesday!

Summer Part 2

And our summer continues...
Riley and Jace
An old train came through town, and several of our friends from Sunday school went to see. Jace LOVED it!
Jace is almost 18 months in this picture. He was a little bit younger than his friends, but our church let us 'try' vacation Bible school, and Jace did great! He loved it!

Our kitchen table for Father's Day. We had a great day!
Jace helped make Jeff some yummy breakfast before church.

Jace got his Daddy some new shoes...
for our picnic at the park. Jace helped his Daddy eat his lunch too :)

At the State park, they have several small exhibits with fish, turtles, etc.

Jace also helped Daddy drive his truck in our neighborhood.
We had a really fun day together celebrating Jeff! He is an AWESOME Daddy!

Mr. & Mrs. Turner are our neighbors who adore Jace (the feeling is mutual!!!)!
They invited Jace to help pick potatoes out of their garden.
Mr. Turner even let Jace wear his hat! We are so blessed to have the Turner's as our neighbors. They are precious people who love Jesus!

4th of July
We watched fireworks across the street from Pleasant View ballpark in Russellville.
Jace had some BIG fun finger painting. It started with paper, and then he realized how much fun it was to paint himself!!

Jeff is playing in our church's golf tournament today. Jace and I are heading to Conway for the day! Have a great weekend!

A Snapshot of Summer Part 1

We LOVE summer at the Akin house! We all 3 LOVE to be outside. With the beautiful and HOT weather we have been having, Jeff, Jace, and I have spent lots of time outside. Hopefully by the end of this post I will have justified not blogging in a while...we have been busy enjoying life!

Jeff, Jace, and I went on Mt. Nebo in Dardanelle on Mother's Day 2011.

Jeff and I took Jace to the Memphis Zoo on Memorial Day weekend with some friends of ours from church. We had a great time, and Jace LOVED it!

Jace LOVED the panda bears

We visited with my grandparents. Jace is their first great-grandchild...spoiled!!

Jeff and I took Jace to Hector to Jeff's hunting lease for the day. We rode the four-wheeler, had a picnic lunch, and played in the creek.
Surely by now you can tell that the kid thought the creek was the best thing in life! He had so much fun!
So...I was trying to have the "perfect" little picnic full of yummy 'picnic' foods...well...I obviously wasn't thinking and I put our sandwiches in the cooler in sandwich baggies...they looked more like a sponge when we pulled them out to eat them :)

I had a few vacation days that I needed to use before July 1st, so I have sorta spreaded them out to enjoy several days off at a time. I have had the opportunity to spend some quality time with my little guy, and I am so thankful for that!! On this day, I took him to the park at our church.
We got snow cones and brought them to the park...my child doesn't like snow cones! This is his...mine at this point is GONE! :)
This was the first time that Jace climbed up the entire big slide and went down it by himself...I couldn't believe it...he is getting big!!

Well, if you are still reading this, I am impressed! Part 2 to come!
